Completely unrelated to pregnancy, but I need to write about this. Earlier, I mentioned that I was tired of mommy blogs. Well, now that I'm pregnant it's really hard to stay away. All of them irritate me at one point or another. Like the month that someone thought it was a good idea to take photos of their shoes everyday. Or when another wrote an entire entry about how her deodorant smells. I guess those are minor irritations, but I tend to get a little more peeved at the Christian mommy blogs with awesome recipes and budget savings ideas and cute kids and stories...that get randomly political.

It's not the different opinions. I love different opinions. That's why I read a ton of super liberal and super conservative sources. But it *burns* me when people don't want to be that politically responsible, and only read one or the other. I can't stand when a liberal completely discounts a person's opinion because she is a conservative, or a Christian. This happens in various forms on LJ, which I think leans left.

But out in the Christian blog world, you'll see a lot of anti-intellectualism and what seems like repeating verbatim what O'Reilly said last night on his Factor.

I don't watch or read Bill O'Reilly, because honestly he's not a valid representative of conservativism or the Republican party. I give them a little more credit than that. I guess I put him in the same category as Stewart & Colbert. I watch them, though, because they're funny! The difference is, I don't go to The Daily Show for my news. As no one, and I mean No One, should rely on O'Reilly as an unbiased news source. If you do, that's political irresponsibility, I don't care how you spin it.

Five Years

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
religion
I just started college five years ago.
Thousands of miles away from home.
It was a very scary time, but I know it was worse for others.

Keep on praying for peace and healing, as far away as they still seem to be.

politics
...was on the Colbert Report the other day. Her point of view is that Women Must Work. Women should want to work outside the home. Women should not want to stay home with their children. A woman who chooses to stay home with her child is Wrong.

What a nutcase.

I think that if a women chooses to return to work, great! If a woman chooses to be a SAHM, great! Who the heck is she to tell women that their careers are more important than their children??
